The maximum setting has a range of 29 meters and is ideal for work in dark, enclosed spaces, as well as climbing, camping, hiking, backpacking, and other outdoor activities. The economy setting--which optimizes battery life to provide a long burn-time of up to 120 hours--is great for reading, sewing, and sitting around a campfire. For emergency or locating purposes, a flashing mode has been added to enhance the security that a headlamp provides.

Summary: "Boy is this a handy light"

Great for dark rooms, reading, etc. It's adjustable, and goes from reading intensity to amazingly bright and long-reaching light, and battery life is long.

Summary: "A very useful product."

I've been using the Petzl lamp under a car, and under kitchen cabinets and it generally provides the required lighting to perform the task at hand. Not always a substitute for a full fledged portable hand lamp, but extremely useful when you can't hang the hand lamp at a proper angle to get the required illumination and need both hands to do the job. The Petzl certainly makes life easier in a variety of situations.

Summary: "Utilitarian, and darn good at it too."

Bought the Tikka for night climbing and hiking. For the price, it's a good little headlamp. Not as bright as some of the higer-priced models, so if you're doing prolonged hiking I'd suggest a better model. But the tilt-down lamp is great for hiking, and flashing beam is great for night biking in the place of a front reflector. Got mine for $4, so I'm definitely not complaining. But I'd go for this one over the Tikkina any day. It's only $10 more, but there's a huge leap in quality.

This is a great product for working in dark or hard to see places.
I first used mine to hook up video and audio components. It frees
up both hands as you don't have to hold a flash light.

Summary: "good reading light"

The product is lightweight. The three light settings allow me to choose the illumination. The light tilts so I can adjust its aim. The band is wide and fits nicely. I am very happy with the product which I use at night as I would a flashlight and as a reading light.
